Virginia L. Mahoney

Virginia L. Mahoney, of MT Path, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 10, 2022.

Virginia was born on 91 years ago on November 29, 1930 to Edna (Shelmandine) and Otis E. Lawyer.  She graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1948 and worked at the Maqua Co. in Schenectady, the Middleburgh Diner and the former Middleburgh News before a 20-year career with the NYS Dept. of Taxation & Finance at the State Campus in Albany. 

Ginny was a member of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Breakabeen Presbyterian Church.  She owned Midd-Scho Video on Route 30 for 3 years with her husband and lived in Inverness, Florida for 2 years before coming back to Middleburgh in 1993.

Ginny enjoyed painting wood crafts and lawn decorations, dining out, visiting with family and friends and taking car rides through the beautiful countryside. 

Loving her forever are her husband: Emmett G. Mahoney of Middleburgh; daughter: Cynthia (Paul) Brauer of Middleburgh; grandson: Paul (Stacy) Brauer, III of Allegany, NY; great-grandson: Isaac Brauer of Allegany, NY; sisters: Janice Alessi of Fredericksburg, VA, Helene Curran of Cobleskill; brother: Otis R. (Shirley) Lawyer of Schoharie; many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her parents and her sisters: Josephine Spencer and Marian Del Giorno.

Ginny’s family would also like to extend their gratitude to Helios Care and the many aides that came to help care for her.

All are invited to a graveside memorial service at 11:00AM on Monday, June 20, 2022 at Breakabeen Cemetery, Breakabeen NY. Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Virginia and her family.
