Thomas J. Wood

Middleburgh - Thomas J. Wood, of Mary Taylor Road, died peacefully at home in the loving care of his family on Wednesday, December 09, 2020.

Born on February 3, 1932 in Middleburgh to Ina B. (Wood) and Leonard B. Wood, Tom grew up on the family homestead and graduated from Middleburgh Central School. 

He worked as a dairy farmer for 45 years, drove many generations of children safely to and from Middleburgh Central School for 50 years and owned Thomas J. Wood Plumbing & Heating for 35 years, servicing his community.  Tom was a lifetime member of the Middleburgh Rod & Gun Club, loved hunting and had a keen interest in farm tractors.

Tom married Jeanne M. Dedrick from Oak Hill, NY on September 5, 1954 and they shared 66 beautiful years together.  Along with Jeanne, cherishing his life and love are their children: Thomas Wood, Jr and wife Barbara Robicheaux of Metairie, LA, Douglas Wood of Middleburgh, Sandra Wood of Middleburgh, Jodi Wood of Middleburgh;      
grandchildren- Jennifer Wood of Middleburgh, Dezi Arredondo of Kerrville, TX, Darcelle Jacobs of Schoharie, Amber Wood of Middleburgh, Randy Wood II of Middleburgh,
Douglas Wood II of Schoharie, Nathan Wood of Schoharie, Aimee Smalls of Katy, TX, Erica Wood of Katy, TX, Brittany Cole of Davenport, NY, Kendall Morrell of Middleburgh, Liam Wood of Middleburgh; 17 great-grandchildren; sister: Janet Tinkler of Middleburgh; brother: David Wood of Middleburgh.

Tom was predeceased by his son: Randy Wood, his sister: Virginia Durie and his brother: Orville Wood.

All are invited to a visitation with Tom’s family from 6:00-8:00 on Monday, December 14, 2020 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY. Facial covering and distancing will be respected by all attending.  Services will be held privately and interment will take place in Middleburgh cemetery.
