Middleburgh – Stephen G. Czachor, 74, of MT Path, found peace from his declining health on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany.
Stephen was born in Brooklyn on April 19, 1946 to Margaret (Kennell) and Adam Czachor and upon graduating from high school, proudly served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968, during the Vietnam War and was awarded a Purple Heart. Stephen then began a long and distinguished career serving as a Police Officer with the Suffolk County Police Dept. before retiring in 1991 and eventually moving upstate to Middleburgh.
Stephen was a member of the Middleburgh Rod & Gun Club, SCOPE and the NRA. He was an avid gun enthusiast and collector, loved hunting, traveling and was even a beekeeper. He also loved visiting with friends and dining out, especially at Burger King.
Stephen was predeceased by his parents and his brother: Jeffery Czachor.
His loving family includes his children: Stephen J, Czachor, Sr. of Bennington, VT, Ellen Miller of Middleburgh, NY, Gregory Czachor of Coram, NY, Adam Czachor of Hauppauge, NY; grandchildren: Stephen J. Czachor, Jr., Helen Czachor, David Miller, Christopher Miller, Adam Miller, Arya Czachor, Isla Czachor; great-grandson: Aamori Floyd; siblings: Kenneth (Barbara) Czachor of Middleburgh, Robert Czachor of Bayshore, Ny, Gloria Mais of Patchogue, NY, Barbara Dressel of Summerset, PA and many nieces and nephews.
While private services for the family will be held at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, an open memorial service will be held for family and friends at a later date, following the current Covid-19 restrictions. Interment will take place at Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island.
