Robert E. Jaqueway, of Terrace Mountain Road, passed away on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at O’Connor Hospital in Delhi from declining health.
Robert was born 87 years ago in Schoharie, to Dorothy (Crewell) and Jerry Jaqueway. After graduating high school, he worked for American Locomotive in Schenectady where, amongst other duties, assisted in testing tanks and military equipment for the Korean Conflict. He went on to work as a line mechanic for Penn Dixie Cement for over 20 years and then Owens Corning in Delmar for and additional 20 years before retiring.
Robert was married on August 27, 1955 to Edith M. Graulich and together they started their home and family. He loved being outdoors in nature, whether it was hunting, fishing, trapping or riding his snowmobile. And enough firewood for the season simply meant he was going back outdoors to cut and stock more, to his family’s amazement. He was a former member of the Schoharie Fire Department and active for many years with the Schoharie Reformed Church’s concession stand at the Gas Up in Gallupville.
Not only was he dedicated to his wife and family, but Robert was devoted to his faith and serving his Lord through the church. He was a lifetime member, deacon and elder of the Schoharie Reformed Church.
Loving Robert forever are his wife: Edith M. Jaqueway; daughter: Cynthia J Magee of Otego; sons: Michael R. (Marion) Jaqueway and Mark (Kathy) Jaqueway, both of Schoharie; grandchildren: Kevin (Adina) Magee, Thomas Jaqueway, Katelyn Jaqueway, Jessica Jaqueway; great-granddaughter: Molly Magee; brother: Jerry (Roberta) Jaqueway, Jr. of Schoharie; niece: Deborah Jaqueway – Beggs. Robert was predeceased earlier this year by his son-in-law: James Magee.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the Schoharie Reformed Church, Main Street, Schoharie. Burial will follow in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery. All are invited to visit with Robert's family from 11AM to 12PM at the church, prior to the service. Facial coverings and distancing are required by all attending the church.
