Richard E. Rowlison, Sr. of Middleburgh, passed away on Friday, October 27, 2023 at The Grand Nursing & Rehab in Guilderland following declining health.
Richard was born 79 years ago on July 4, 1944 in Middleburgh to Grace (Wayman) and Clarence Rowlison. Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965 and then retired from the National Guard after serving from 1974-1992. Richard was an active member of the Timothy Murphy American Legion Post # 248 in Middleburgh for many years and he would often times be seen outside Stewart’s or the Post Office with Poppies, raising donations.
Richard was active with the Boy Scouts for many years, building their first Pinewood derby track, he served as President of the former CB Club and he was a long-time member of the Middleburgh Volunteer Fire Dept. He was talented at many arts and crafts, made costumes for his children, owned his own fix-it shop and his own manufacturing company, D & M Enterprises in Middleburgh. Richard was a fixture around town, whether enjoying his scratch-offs at Stewart's, breakfast at Mrs. K’s Kitchen or a good dish of ice cream, he enjoyed visiting and keeping up on the news around town. He also enjoyed trips to Rivers Casino, going to the fair and hunting and collecting arrow heads.
Cherishing his memory are his daughters: Pauline (Joseph) Nusca of Schenectady and Grace Evans of Inverness, FL; his son: Richard E. (Cory) Rowlison, Jr. of Cobleskill; grandchildren: Stephanie Salisbury, Stephen Salisbury, Jr., Jared DeSantis, Elizabeth Evans, Julia Evans, Richard E. Rowlison, III, Robert Rowlison; several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Richard was predeceased by his parents, his wife: Marlene and his brothers: Charles and Larry.
A visitation with Richard’s family will be held from 11:00AM-12:00PM on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY. A funeral service will follow at 12:00PM. A graveside committal service, with Military Honors will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Middleburgh Cemetery.
