Paul M. Zinsman, 65, of Middleburgh NY passed away on September 27,2023 in his home.
Paul was born on September 20, 1958 to George and Mary Zinsman (Schaffer) in Hempstead,
NY. When Paul was young, they moved to Middleburgh, NY where his father was the pastor of
St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. After graduating Middleburgh Central School, he joined the workforce, where he met his lovely bride Sande VanDerbeck. Paul and Sande were married on September27, 1980 and their family grew to include their three daughters: Regina, Ashley and Stacey.
Paul started working for Becker Electronics in 1977 as a woodworker. In February 1988, he started working at Hannay Reels where he was a laborer until 2015 when he retired. He was an active member of MEVAC for 20 years, where he served as captain and co-captain. He was awarded a NYS citation for his 20 years of service with the ambulance. He was also awarded the Pete Attanasio Award For Courage in 2015 and 2018-2019. In 2021-22 he was awarded MEVAC’s volunteer of the year.
Paul was a big sports fan, he enjoyed deer hunting, golfing, bowling, snowmobiling, NASCAR and dirt racing, where he was part of multiple race crews over the years. Dirt racing was one ofhis most favorite hobbies. He was proud of all the times that he was able to meet many of his favorite athletes, though is biggest accomplishments were his children and grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father George Zinsman and step father George Schaffer.
He is survived by his wife: Sande Zinsman: his 3 daughters: Regina (Bryan) Stewart, Ashley (Seth) Martin, and Stacey (David) Busch; his 5 precious grandchildren: Taylor, Riley, Mark, Alex and Brexton; his mother, Mary Schaffer; his 3 sisters: Ruth (Mark) Simmons, Marie Whittaker and Debbie (Michael) Zehnter.
A Memorial service will be held at 1:00PM on Friday, October 6, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY with Pastor David Houck officiating. A visitation with Paul’s family will be held from 11:00AM - 1:00PM, prior to the service.
