Maureen Viola Obituary

Since the beginning, the heavens have sparkled with the beauty of the stars.  That same sparkle shone through Maureen Viola, whose life came full circle on Monday, June 21, 2021 when she found eternal peace.

Maureen was born 73 years ago on June 28, 1947 in Floral Park to Dorothy (Wallace) and Vincent Riordan. Many youthful summers were spent at the family “farm,’ a homestead that her dad purchased on Armlin Hill.  There, she whiled away many hours in the tranquility of nature and developed a life-long love affair with every beautiful song bird, answering their melodies with her own.  Thanksgivings, Fourth of July celebrations and many Labor Days were all spent at “the farm,” amidst her love of nature and her family.
Simple words cannot truly express how full of life and love Maureen was.  A vivacious personality, you knew you were in her presence when greeted by her glowing smile and her trademark “Boobie!” accompanied by the warmest hug to wrap up in and lose every care of the day in her kindness and compassion.  Listen closely and you’ll still hear her saying "Thank you for being you, thank you for being mine, thank you for being ours,” a sentiment she said and wrote on many occasions and truly expressed in her actions.
Maureen’s warmth and love was beyond reassuring to generations of patients, young and old at Dr. Jelley’s dental practice, where she assisted in their care.  She loved blotting the dots and yelling out her favorite game “BINGO!” when they aligned as much as quiet moments absorbed in her crossword puzzles.  Not only could she hunt down the right puzzle words but she was also a world-champion seeker of four-leaf clovers, amazing family and friends alike with her keen eye for a little bit of the Irish luck!  Maureen’s eternal faith, learned and nurtured from her mom was instilled in her own family.  And it’s no wonder then, that one of the greatest miracles was also one of Maureen’s favorites.  The same everlasting love and light that came with the first Christmas, came every year to her family’s home.  Maureen’s favorite holiday was filled with absolute magic and just like the gift of eternal love and light at Christmas, Maureen’s love and light will shine forever in all who were blessed to know her.

Sharing her love the closest are her husband: Ralph Viola; her daughters: Kerri (Paul) Bagley, Jessica (Frank) Wyllins and Patricia Viola; her grandchildren: Brian Bagley and Daniella Wyllins; her twin brother: Dennis Riordan and her brothers Michael (Susan) Riordan and Patrick (Margie) Riordan; niece and nephew: Kathryn (Yuli) Kostinsky, Vincent (Marielle) Riordan and many cousins. Maureen was predeceased by her parents and her brother: Brian Riordan.
