Marion Zach Obituary

Middleburgh – The epitome of a lady to the end, Marion E. Zach, 97, found Heavenly peace on Monday, February 17, 2020.

Born on November 20, 1922 at home in Middleburgh to Velma (Wainwright) and Howard Wood, she attended and graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1940.

Never one to sit idle, Marion worked at the Middleburgh Diner for 11 years and as a Postal Clerk at the Middleburgh Post Office for many years. She was a member of the Middleburgh United Methodist Church, the Middleburgh Business and Professional Women, the Franklinton Grange as well as the 50 Plus Seniors in Schoharie and the Middleburgh Golden Age Club, traveling on bus trips and performing in their Vintage Vaudeville shows.  Marion also served as Executive Secretary of the Schoharie Co. Civil Service Office and treasurer of the NYS Civil Service Association.

The melodies of her playing the organ and her beautiful knitting and cross stitching will continue to bring smiles and memories of her beautiful, loving spirit.  And memories of her Jitterbugging across the floor, in her gentleman’s arms, to Glenn Miller’s “In The Mood” and others will also be cherished.

Marion was predeceased by her husband: Frank Zach, Jr.; grandson: Howard Zach; great-grandson: Bruce Kane; nephew: Richard Zach and her companion and dancing partner: William “Bill” Kirchner.

Her love and memory will be held forever by her sons: Barry (Patricia) Zach of Middleburgh and Dennis (Barbara ) Zach of Auburn; her grandchildren: Denise Marstall, Darcy Kane, John Zach, Jodie Nickerson, Brynda Shultes, Diane Truesdell, Teresa Chavez, Jennifer Ruszkiewicz, Lisa Robert; 20 great-grandchildren; her sister: Alice Zach of Newport News, VA; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be at 2:00PM on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh with Pastor Maryellen Moore officiating.  Spring interment will be in Keyserkill Cemetery. All are invited to visit with her family from 1:00-2:00PM on Saturday, prior to the funeral.
