Marie E. Farrell

Marie Farrell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 at Albany Medical Center.  Marie was born 55 years ago on March 23, 1966 in New York and she spent most of her early adult life in Willowbrook State School from 1975-1985 and then moved to the OD Heck Developmental Center from 1985-1990.

In 1990 Marie joined our MIRA family and since then has enjoyed living in Middleburgh.  She enjoyed attending day-hab and spending time with her peers and staff at home. Marie’s loud voice and heartwarming smile will always be treasured by them. Whether at home, day-hab or in the community you could never mistake who was there if you heard a loud “Hiya!”  Over the last few years, Marie’s health had declined and her loud, spontaneous, and fiery personality had changed into one of subtlety and quietness. Marie had her favorite staff and would always love a hug and a kiss on a cheek. Whether smiling or giving the side eye, it was hard not to love Marie with all of her personality and love she gave to others. Marie loved her stuffed donkeys, Disney movies, snowball fights and most importantly her best friend and roommate of over 30 years, Holly.

Marie’s staff worked around the clock with her until the end and gave her all of the love, care and support that she needed to be comfortable. We will miss her with deep sadness but know she is now in a better place and at peace.

All are invited to graveside service at 10:00AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 in Middleburgh Cemetery, Cotton Hill Road, Middleburgh.  Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Marie and her MIRA family and friends.
