Schenectady – Marguerite “Peggy” L. Pindar, 91, of Glenville Street, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 7, 2020, at Palatine Nursing Home in Palatine Bridge, where she had been receiving care.
Peggy was born on July 9, 1928, in Albany to Marguerite Amelia (Woods) and Henry Van Loan Pindar, Sr. She graduated from The Knox School in Cooperstown and then earned her Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from Tufts University, her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Oneonta and began a teaching career that spanned over 40 years. She taught and touched the lives of students at Middleburgh Central School, Worcester Central School, she also taught in Baumholder Germany and finally at the Van Corlaer School in Schenectady before retiring.
Peggy was a member of the Reformed Church of America and attended both Middleburgh and Scotia churches. She was also a member of the Schenectady County Retired Teachers Assoc., the Schoharie Chapter of DAR, Schoharie County Historical Society and the Red Hat Society of America.
She cherished time spent with family and friends at Crystal Lake, traveling, reading, dining out, going to Proctor’s Theater, playing games and cards, sewing, quilting, tole painting, swimming and of course bowling.
Peggy was predeceased by her parents, her brother: Henry Van Loan Pindar, Jr., sister-in-law: Jessie Rice Pindar and her nephew: Henry Van Loan Pindar, III.
Peggy’s loving family includes her nieces: Barbara P. (Shane) Engle of Middleburgh, Diane P. (Steven) Butler of Cobleskill; several great-nieces, nephews and a great-great niece and nephew.
A celebration of Marguerite’s life will be held by her family at a future date and they appreciate you remembering her and them through this time.
