Loretta Bolen Obituary

Loretta I. Bolen, of Railroad Avenue, died peacefully at her home on Monday, November 29, 2021.

Loretta was born on March 12, 1933 in the family home in Middleburgh, to Edna (Finch) and Bradford Rivenburgh.  She graduated from Middleburgh Central School and worked as a secretary in town before moving to Washington D.C. and becoming a Legal Secretary for the Navy.  While in D.C., she met and married her sweetheart John and together, they moved to California and started their family.  A few years and children later, they returned to Middleburgh and Loretta continued lovingly caring for her home and family.  When the opportunity presented itself, she returned to work, for 25 years as a bus and playground aide at Middleburgh Elementary School before retiring.

To say Loretta loved her family is an understatement.  Never a concert or sporting event missed, even out of state, nor a birthday or holiday overlooked.  She loved celebrating and made sure every detail was in place to ensure each was filled with love and lasting memories. And upon the arrival of her grandchildren, her love and devotion increased beyond measure. Her family will also cherish memories of her incredible cooking and baking, filling her home with delicious aromas of pies and cookies.

She loved listening to Elvis and Patsy Cline, savoring the beauty of her roses and in her younger years was an avid bowler with her husband and friends.  She was also a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Middleburgh.

Loving her forever are her daughters: Pamela (Richard) Sinko of Latham, Patricia (Kitchell) Paser of Middleburgh, Amy Bolen (Darrell France) of Cherry Valley, Jennifer (Christopher) Hubbard of Middleburgh; grandchildren: Kayla and Courtney Paser, Eric and Chad Sinko and Kyle France; sisters-in-law: Alice Rivenburgh of Salisbury, MD and Linda Rivenburgh of Cobleskill; brother-in-law: Dewey Carver of Middleburgh; niece and nephews: Heather Carver (Howard Kreitsek), Brett (Joanne) Carver and Shawn Carver; great-niece and nephew: Emily and Jack Carver.

Loretta was predeceased by her husband: John Bolen; sisters: Shirley Rivenburgh and Thera Carver; brothers: Bradford, Kenneth, Donald and Robert Rivenburgh; niece: Jean Ann Bryant.
