Linda Brown

Linda A. Brown of North Street, Cobleskill, passed away on April 10, 2023 at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing after a long illness.

Linda was born 75 years ago on January 12, 1948 in Catskill to Irene (Richtmyer) Higgins and Miles Higgins. Linda and her two brothers were raised in Manorkill by their father and maternal grandparents, Harriett (Hitchcock) and Grant Richtmyer, after their mother Irene passed away suddenly at a young age.

Linda graduated from Gilboa-Conesville Central School and married Richard H. Brown on August 26, 1967. Linda and Richard raised their two sons in Broome Center (Gilboa), and Linda later went on to earn her Associate’s Degree in nursing from SUNY Delhi and became a certified Registered Nurse. Linda was a member of the Broome Center Chapel Church and she was also very involved with the Girl Scouts of America and was a council leader for many years in the 1980s.

Linda was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and she was a nurse who truly cared for the people she treated. She loved to crochet and spend time with family and friends and also loved to cook and bake.  Her wedding and birthday cakes delighted everyone, and her homemade rolls were always everyone’s favorite.
During her nursing career, Linda worked at the Capital District Psychiatric Center, Stamford Community Hospital, Cobleskill Regional Hospital and Margaretville Hospital.

She is survived by her loving husband Richard; her sons Jeffery (Amy) and Brian (Monica) Brown; her grandchildren Brianna Braren, Devon Brown, MacKenzie Brown, Kayleigh (Christopher) Jordan, Britney Merwin, and Kendall Brown; and two great-grandchildren. Linda was predeceased by her brothers Frederick and Miles (James) Higgins.
 

A memorial service will be held at 6:00PM on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Street, Middleburgh.  Visitation with Linda's family will be from 5-6:00PM prior to the service.
