LaVerne Thomas "Coop" Cooper, of State Route 145, Livingstonville, found eternal peace on Thursday, June 8, 2023 in the comfort of his home.
Coop was born 74 years ago in Schenectady on August 15, 1948 to Jennie (Akerson) Jennings and LaVerne T. Cooper, Sr. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School and attended DeVry Institute in New Jersey. He ran Mayfair Texaco service station from 1969 to 1973; became a certified welder, while working for the pipeline; partnered C&O Sales and Service for 21 years with his friend Paul O'Neil; painted towers and bridges with Artie Vales; sandblasted holding tanks; hung perforated concrete at Spancrete; did seismic work with longtime friend Jack Murtha from the Salt Lake up through Montana and contractual work for DOD & DOJ before failing health forced him into retirement. Coop was also a mechanic at Stiefel Labs in Durham.
He loved to party and riding his bike through the passes of the Rockies, without the need of a helmet. He became one of the staff members of the Harley Rendezvous under Kemp O'Connor when it moved to Indian Lookout Country Club and brought his wife and brother's family with him. So much so, that it became a reunion with his entire family working the event with him. The "Vous" was his family and it stands for "Freedom" to ride, party and raise "Hell" was Coop's firm belief; a part of our inherited right.
Loving him forever are his wife: Kathleen (Hasto) Cooper; son: Thomas (Jayne) Cooper; grandchildren: Stephen and Jerrall; half-sister: "Milly" Jennings; sisters-in-law: Sharron Lambert, Cheryl (Whittaker); brothers-in-law: Eric (Karen) Hasto and Brian (Audrey) Hasto; several nieces and nephews; grandnieces and grandnephews. Coop was predeceased by his daughter: Jeanette; half-brothers: Paul Lambert and Raymond Jennings; half-sisters: Helen Jennings and Teresa Jennings.
A visitation with family and celebration of Coop's life will be held from 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Teter Hall, 453 State Route 145, Middleburgh, NY 12122.
