Beneath the gruff shell beat a heart of gold bigger than you can imagine.
He would give you the shirt off his back, if you ever caught him wearing a shirt.
His cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors and heavy equipment all seemed to run best with just a pair of shorts and occasional sandals. With few words, without any shirt on his back or a second thought, he gave his time, experience and talents to anyone in need.
John F. "Jiggy" Drinon was born on June 15, 1947 in Schenectady, to Lena (LaMont) and John P. Drinon. Jiggy found eternal peace at home on May 8, 2023 in the loving care of his family and his dear friend Cathy. He was a lifelong resident of Middleburgh and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966-1968. He worked in construction for many years with Local #157, had passion for classic cars and riding his Harley Davidsons with the wind at his back. Nothing compared though, for the love he shared with his grandchildren, spending almost all of his time at their sporting events cheering and encouraging them in every way.
Loving him forever are his sons: John R. (Tammy) Drinon and Chris (Gretchen) Drinon; his grandchildren: Ethan, Haley, Evan and Trent; along with countless friends. Jiggy was married to Nancy (Troidl) Drinon from 1972 until she predeceased him in 1997.
In keeping with Jiggy's nature, the greatest way to honor his life is to show up, unexpectedly, with equipment and tools of any kind and lend a helping hand to family, neighbors, friends and strangers.
Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Jiggy and his family.
