Jay Lawyer

Jay Lawyer, of Route 30, found eternal peace on Thursday, September 8, 2022.

Jay was born 69 years ago on January 2, 1953 in Cobleskill, to Julia (Hotaling) and Albert “Ed” Lawyer.

After graduating, Jay worked various construction jobs until an accident, that left him unable to continue.  Not one to sit idle, he took a delivery route with the Schenectady Gazette and often said it was his favorite job ever, giving special care to all of his customers over those 18 years.

Jay was always glad to see you and happy to bring a smile with his sense of humor.  Even while in the hospital, his spirits were up and he was doing his best to keep everyone around him positive.

He loved his family, though not all blood related, they were all family to Jay and he treasured every moment with them.  He was also a member of the AA family for many years, celebrating 36 years of sobriety.  Jay helped countless others with theirs and finding peace alongside his wife Marsha, whom he met at AA in 1990 

Jay was also dedicated to his faith and love of God, serving many different ways at Calvary Assembly of God over the last 25 years.

His life, love, faith and humor will be held forever by his wife of 31 years: Marsha Lawyer; sons: Michael (Nicole) Lawyer, Bryan (Kelly) Stevens, Michael (Erin) Stevens; grandson: Adrian Stevens; siblings: Michael (Connie) Clapper, Don (Terry) Clapper, Jr., Shelly Clapper, Lynn Clapper and Tricie Bender.  Jay was predeceased by his parents and sister: Donna Myers.

A celebration of Jay’s life will be held at 12:00PM on Sunday, September 18, 2022 at Calvary Assembly of God, 960 Mineral Springs Rd, Cobleskill, NY 12043.
