Harry M. Amendola, III of State Route 30, died peacefully at home on Sunday, October 16, 2022, surrounded by the loving embrace and care of his wife, daughters and his niece Riva Richards.
Harry was born 82 years ago on February 3, 1940 in Albany to Stella (Bell) and Harry M. Amendola, II , later serving in the United States Army Reserve for 6 years. He owned Amendola Nursery on Long Island for many years before moving to Middleburgh in 1970 and operating Harry M. Amendola, Excavating Contractor and Soil Conservation. Some men are lucky enough to grown up, yet remain a kid at heart and play with big toys, like backhoes and bulldozers. Listening to his stories and seeing Harry’s smile proves it’s true. His smile and love grew the biggest though, in the company and embrace of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of the Middleburgh Rod & Gun Club, Rotary, American Legion Post #248 in Middleburgh and served as a Judge for the Town of Fulton. Loyal to his faith, Harry was a devout member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church family in Middleburgh.
Harry will be loved forever by his wife: Sharon (Scislowsky) Amendola; daughters: Lisa (Todd) Bartholomew, Michelle Amendola, Marie (Leonard) Cater, Michelle (Darin) Zauner, Babette (Marc) Beckley; siblings: Pamela Amendola, Robert (Sheila) Amendola, Richard (Analisa) Amendola; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration, in thanks to God, for Harry’s life will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, October 23, 2022 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Main Street, Middleburgh with Pastor David Houck officiating. Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Harry and his family.
