Middleburgh – Francis J. Bergan, 88, found eternal peace on Tuesday, March 10, 2020.
Francis was born on April 24, 1931 in South Weymouth, MA to Eunice (Lydon) and Francis Bergan. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 – 1953.
While working at the A&P in Hingham, he chanced to meet a lovely young lady and soon they were together and wed. He and his wife Anne would go on t o co-own the Bristol County Telephone Answering Service for many years together.
He loved fishing, gardening, delving into history and political discussions as much as rooting for his beloved Red Sox and New England Patriots, amongst other sports. A quiet, unassuming and faithful man, Francis found happiness in life’s greatest treasures, his family and caring for his grandchildren while they were young.
He was predeceased by his wife: Anne E. Bergan and his sisters: Anne Wyeth and Patricia Bergan.
His love and memory will be held forever by his children: Patricia L. Bergan of Middleburgh, Anne F. Bergan of Martinsburg, WV, Joseph J. Bergan of Middle Granville and Christopher Bergan; his grandchildren: Elizabeth A. Scafuto of Brooklyn, Anthony M. Scafuto (Jesse Klein) of E. Bridgewater, MA and his great-granddaughter: Abigail.
A graveside service, with Military Honors, will be held in the spring on a date to be announced, in Middleburgh Cemetery.
Francis’ family requests that memorial donations be made in his son, Joseph’s honor, to the Warren-Washington County ARC, 436 Quaker Rd, Queensbury, NY 12804.
