Middleburgh – Elizabeth J. Wood went home to be with her Lord in Heaven on Thursday, January 21, 2021 from the loving care of her family.
Elizabeth was born 102 years ago, on March 4, 1918 in Windham, to Lydia (Cleveland) and Harry Lobdell.
Elizabeth was the perfect farmer’s wife, often saying that she started milking cows at 9 years old. She was also devoted to loving and caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting, tending to the beautiful flowers in her garden and was a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church in Gilboa.
Elizabeth was married to Everett Wood on August 30, 1936 until he went home to Heaven on August 5, 1977. She was also welcomed into Heaven by her infant daughter: Jean; sister: Virginia South and brothers: Elmer Lobdell, Floyd Weiss and Lloyd Weiss.
Cherishing her love and life forever are her sons: Jared (Yvonne) Wood, Milton (Iris) Wood and David C. Wood, all of Middleburgh; daughter: Beverly Godigkeit of Kentucky; sister: Mamie Stempel of Norton Hill; grandchildren: Donald E. Wood, Jared Wood, Jr., Michelle Wood, Annette Wood, James Wood, William Wood, Nathan Wood, Melissa Godigkeit, Jennifer Godigkeit, Sarah Godigkeit and James Godigkeit, Jr.; step-grandchildren: Matthew Guyette and Christine Miller; many great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
All are invited to visit with Elizabeth’s family from 12:00-1:00PM on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Facial covering and distancing will be respected by all attending. Funeral services will be held privately for the family and spring interment will be in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie
