Eleanor Preston

Fultonham – Eleanor Preston, formerly of Fultonham, found eternal peace in the arms of her Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Van Rensselear Manor in Troy, where she had been receiving care.

Eleanor was born in Rodman, NY on June 23, 1932 to Velva (Collier) and Orson Bulluck. Eleanor graduated from Mansville High School in 1948 and attended SUNY Potsdam from 1948-1949 and then Secretarial School until 1950 and worked for several years until marrying James Preston in 1954.  A wonderful wife and mother, she worked very hard raising her beautiful family of 11 children in a warm, loving home. 

After her husband’s death in 1987, Eleanor went back to work as a secretary at Middleburgh Central School, finally retiring in 1999. 

She loved reading and filling her days with the love of her family and expressing her love through baking them cookies.  Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were very special to her and brought her much joy.

Besides her parents and her husband, Eleanor was predeceased by her son: Michael Preston in 2018 and her siblings: Robert Bulluck, Richard Bulluck and Ronald Bulluck.

Cherishing her life and love forever are her children: Rose Preston of Potsdam, Patricia (Bill) Snow of Greenville, Mary (Tony) VanGlad of Gilboa, Lori Preston of Latham, Paul (Brenda) Preston of Canton, Robert Preston of Latham, Thomas (Cindy) Preston of Richmondville, Timothy (Kelly) Preston of Middleburgh, David (Kelly) Preston of Rotterdam, Daniel (Christine) Preston of Middleburgh; grandchildren: Michael, Erica and Christopher Preston, Mark and Adam VanGlad, Bryan and Brandon Preston, Danielle and Jessica Preston, Emma and Sophie Freed; her great-grandchildren: Natalie and Benjamin Preston; her sister: Constance Leana.

Eleanor’s family wishes to extend heartfelt appreciation to her nurses and staff on B3 at the Manor, for their devotion and care.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main Street, Middleburgh with Fr. Juanito Asprec as Celebrant.  Spring interment will be in Middleburgh Cemetery. All are invited to visit with Eleanor’s family from 6:00-8:00PM on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Facial covering and distancing will be respected by all attending.
