Middleburgh – David R. Packard of County Route 10 died Friday, January 21, 2022 at Ellis Hospital from declining health.
David was born 73 years ago on January 6, 1949 in Albany to Ruth (Saddlemire) and Raymond Packard. After graduating High School, he enlisted in the United States Marines and served for two years before his Honorable Discharge.
He was a dedicated law enforcement officer, who received numerous commendations while serving as a Special Investigator with the City of Albany Police Department and locally as a Lieutenant with the Schoharie County Sheriff’s Department before retiring.
David’s greatest joys were found on top of “the hill,” in the cabin he built with his brother’s help, in the woods hunting or just relaxing with his beverage of choice, a Genny Light. His greatest love was his family and watching them grow through the years.
Loving him forever are his wife: Beth (Mickle) Packard; his daughters: Sarah (Jim) Hunt and Amanda (John) Stuerke, all of Middleburgh; his grandchildren: Ashley Hunt (Logan Peek), Allison Hunt, Alicia Hunt, Laken Stuerke and Maverick Stuerke; sister: Delfa Quinn of Federal Way, WA; brother: Gary Packard of Middleburgh; many nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his sister and brother: Margaret Grinmanis and Gail “Skip” Packard.
A celebration of David’s life will be held at the family’s convenience, to be announced.
