Amparo “Pardy” Coons died peacefully at home, in the loving care of her family, on Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Pardy was born 101 years ago on May 1, 1920 in El Paso, Texas to Carolina (Muzquiz) and Harry Dunham. She worked for many years with the NYS Dept of Criminal Justice in Albany as a fingerprint analyzer, while keeping her home, raising her family and staying active in her community. She was a longtime member of the Rosary Society and Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, the Breakabeen Grange #767, the Town of Fulton and Town of Hobart Historical Societies. Pardy enjoyed photography and was also a member of Middleburgh Bowling League, hitting the pins until she was 92.
She also cherished every moment she could spend with her family, watching each generation grow.
Pardy will be held forever in the hearts of her son: Claude “Skeeter” (Elizabeth) Coons of Middleburgh; grandchildren: Trevor Coons, Mark Coons, Aaron (Allison) Coons, Matthew (Kelly) Reynolds, Brenda Berger; great-grandchildren: Kayla Coons, Sara Coons, Alyssa Coons, Richard Berger, Phillip Berger; great-great-grandchildren: Cash Reynolds, Lyla Dudley, Willow Dudley; sister: Esther Caulkins; many nieces and nephews. Pardy was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years: Claude E. Coons; sister: Josephine Fuller; brother: Gerardo Dunham.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00PM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh with Deacon Gary Righi officiating. Burial will follow in Breakabeen Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11AM-12PM, prior to the funeral service. Facial coverings are required for all attending.
