Middleburgh – Vicki L. Moorhead, 46, of Woods Rd, died unexpectedly, in the warmth of her home, on Tuesday, February 20, 2018.

Vicki was born in Stamford on June 17, 1971 to Barbara (Wood) Hartman.

Graduating from Middleburgh Central School in 1989 and earning her Bachelor's degree in communications from the College of Saint Rose.   She worked as an assignment editor for WNYT and recently as a baker at Schoharie Valley Farms, often being recognized for her work ethic and attention to detail.   Her true passion though was being a stay at home mom.

Vicki was blessed to be the mother of Ashley for eleven beautiful years.  Vicki was Ashley's protector, advocate and friend.  Vicki's stories and smiles were centered around Ashley.  Whether it was sharing stories of them baking, gardening, snowmobiling or preparing for 4-H events, Vicki enjoyed and gleaned so much pleasure from this precious time they spent together.  Their biggest bond as mother and daughter was around their shared love for horses and their amazing friends and extended family.

Having lived with OCD, Vicki proudly authored her own book "The Raw Truth" to educate others about this illness.  She also put her knowledge and experience to great use advocating for people with mental health problems, being a member and speaking for NAMI.

Vicki loved being outdoors and could often be found horseback riding, hunting, gardening or snowmobiling.  When not outdoors, she enjoyed listening to music, Country and Rock being her favorites and filling her home with aromas of fresh baked goods.

Vicki's family includes her husband: William Moorhead, daughter: Ashley Moorhead; mother: Barbara Hartman; mother-in-law: Mary Ann Moorhead, all of Middleburgh; sister-in-laws: Kathleen (Scott) Moorhead-Paton of Latham, Mary (Scott) Randall of Schroon Lake; uncle: Donald (Lolita) Wood; cousins: Donald (Jacqueline) Wood, James (Kris) Wood all of Middleburgh and many nieces, nephews, family and dear friends.

Vicki's family invites you to a funeral service, at 7:00PM on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street in Middleburgh with Pastor Jeffrey Kelley of the Middleburgh Reformed Church officiating.  All are invited to visit with her family from 5–7 PM prior to the service.  Spring interment will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Vicki's honor can be sent to S&J Ranch, 285 Gridley Road, Middleburgh NY 12122.  These funds will be used to help support young horseback riders.
