Obituary

Middleburgh- Tressa A. McCabe, of Pleasant Avenue, found eternal peace on Friday, May 13, 2022 in the comfort of her home.

Tressa was born 98 years ago on February 14, 1924 in Buffalo to Hulda (Jones) and Herbert Osterhoudt.  Tressa grew up traveling and living on many different farms in Delaware and neighboring counties, that her parents managed.  She graduated from Schuylerville Central School in 1942 and went to work for General Electric.

Tressa was introduced to William J. McCabe, by his sister and they were married on May 14, 1949.  As their family grew, they lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania and finally back to New York, settling in Middleburgh in 1960.

Tressa worked first as an Aide, then as an LPN at Cobleskill Regional Hospital from 1968-1988. She was a long-time member, secretary and Sunday School teacher at the Middleburgh United Methodist Church, also a dispatcher and lifetime member of the Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

In the quiet moments, she enjoyed knitting, reading, baking, refinishing furniture and watching "America Says" and "Wheel of Fortune" on television.

Tressa was predeceased by her husband: William J. McCabe; her parents and her siblings: Betty Sator, Marion Hilliker, John Osterhoudt and Ruth Ellen Rosenberry.

Loving her forever are her daughter: Mary E. McCabe of Middleburgh; sons: William R. (Erynne) Ansel-McCabe of Middleburgh, Kenneth J. McCabe of Duanesburg, David L. McCabe of Middleburgh; grandson: William J. McCabe of Middleburgh; her dearest friends: Marlene Towne and Helen Purinton; her caregiver: Tina Cooper; and her faithful feline companion: Jinx

Her family would also like to extend their thanks to Helios Care for their help and compassion.

All are invited to a Memorial service at 12:00PM on Thursday, May 26, 2022 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.  Visitation with her family will be from 11:00AM to 12:00PM, prior to the service.  Inurnment will be at a later date in Middleburgh Cemetery.
