Obituary

Shirley A. Pricolo passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, at Teresian House in Albany, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 8, 1940, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Agatha (Pfeiffer) and Lemuel Ward.

Her compassionate heart and commitment to helping others shone as a Substance Abuse Counselor with the Schoharie County Council on Alcoholism and Substance Abuse, Inc., in Cobleskill where she offered guidance and hope to many. Her kindness extended beyond counseling; she was also a long-time clerk at Strong's Department Store in Middleburgh, where her friendly demeanor and gentle smile greeted patrons and friends.

An avid learner, Shirley took great pride in earning both her bachelor's and master's degrees, continually seeking knowledge and growth throughout her life. And she was proudest recently of her role as the New Resident Ambassador at Teresian House, where she helped new residents feel welcomed and at home. Shirley’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Teresian House for the comfort, care and dignity she received.

Outside of her professional and educational achievements, Shirley loved traveling and treasured every moment spent visiting with family and friends. Shirley was an enthusiastic game player, and her competitive spirit was legendary, especially when it came to Yahtzee. She delighted in all kinds of music, and the beach held a special place in her heart. She cherished the feeling of salty air and the calming sound of waves gently lapping the shore.

Shirley will be loved forever by her sister Dorothy Ward-Wimmer and her children: Helen (Randall) Timm of Conesville, Ernest "Butch" (Terry) Pricolo of Middleburgh, Vincent (Doreen) Pricolo, Jr. of Berne, and Amy (Jeff) Brown of Summit; her grandchildren: Lindsay (Jason) Merwin, Anthony (Sarah) Pricolo, Vinny (Hope) Pricolo, Elena (Andrew) Nunamann, MacKenzie Brown, and Kendall Brown, along with eleven great-grandchildren and her step-children and their families. Shirley was predeceased by her first husband: Vincent Pricolo Sr., whom she married on February 16, 1958, and her second husband: George MacGregor, whom she married on February 17, 2007. She was also predeceased by her sister Lorraine Roth.

A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Coltrain Funeral Home, LCC, 134 River Street in Middleburgh, NY. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Keyserkill Cemetery.

Shirley's family requests donations in her honor be sent to the Activities Dept. at Teresian House, Attn: Kathryn Hawver, 200 Washington Ave. Ext. Albany, NY 12203.
