IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Shirley Y.
Kutzscher
February 12, 1938 – June 17, 2020
Gilboa – Shirley Y. Kutzscher, 82, of Mace Road, found peace from declining health on Wednesday, June 17, 2020 at the Fulton Center for Nursing, where she had been receiving care.
Shirley was born at home on February 12, 1938 in Gilboa to Irene (Buel) and Raymond Brown, who both predeceased her.
Shirley graduated and studied nursing, eventually accepting a position at Cobleskill Regional Hospital in 1971 and at the time of her retirement, in 1996, she was Nurse Manager of Ambulatory Care. Her knowledge and caring nature ensured her talents were shared within her home and community too, often tending to family, friends and neighbors in need of her nursing experience.
Shirley loved her flowers, taking care of her home, vacationing with family, especially to Gettysburg and scrapbooking and taking pictures. She was also very active within her community as a member of the Broome Center Chapel, where she organized dinners and the annual ice cream socials for many years and she was a member of the American Legion Post 1764 Ladies Auxiliary in Conesville. Shirley also served as past President and Secretary for the Gilboa Historical Society and was a member of the Schoharie County Historical Society and loved history and genealogy.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband: Howard Kutzscher, an infant son, her sister and brother-in-law: Bonnie (Brown) and Victor Mace and her brother: James Brown.
Her surviving family includes her son: Kevin Kutzscher; grandchildren: Courtney Kutzscher and Nathan Kutzscher; brother: Richard (Linda) Brown; sister-in-law: Carolyn Brown; nieces and nephews: Brenda (Robert) Weaver, Christine Brown, Timothy Brown, Todd (Melissa) Mace, Jeffery (Amy) Brown, Brian (Monica) Brown and several great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be at the family's convenience at a later date and they appreciate you remembering her and them through this time.
Shirley's family requests donations be made to the Gilboa Historical Society, PO Box 52, Gilboa, NY 12076 in her honor.
Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Shirley and her family.
