Obituary

Scott Kenneth Hubbard, beloved father, husband and friend, of Gilboa, passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 16, 2026 at home, surrounded by the love of his family, after a long, hard-fought and courageous battle with gastrointestinal cancer.

He was born on September 19, 1962 in Margaretville to his mother: Kathryn Marshall and his father: Merel Hubbard, who both predeceased him.

Scott was the special kind of soul who left a mark everywhere he went, from racing motorcycles as a kid, to settling into the role of being a very busy grandfather. He loved to watch his grandchildren play and grow with the same passion he had watching his own kids. He loved to fish, loved to farm, loved to garden and though he was a social savant, those who truly knew him know that his family meant more to him than anything.

Scott leaves behind his beloved wife: Lisa (Blain) Hubbard. Together, they built a beautiful life and family: three sons. Matthew Hubbard, the eldest, gave Scott two beautiful granddaughters: Kaylie and Madison Hubbard, who he absolutely adored. Their middle son: Shane Hubbard and wife Nicole (Kamna) Hubbard, gave Scott two wonderful grandsons: Brayden and Mason Hubbard as well as another beautiful granddaughter, Adrienne Hubbard. Lastly, his youngest son: Steven Hubbard and wife Katie Rich; he also leaves behind three older siblings: his brother: Steven Hubbard; and sisters: Sheri Potter and Sandi Rockwell; and half-sister: Kelly Wach along with many nieces and nephews. All will strive to carry forward the lessons and memories of their husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend as we learn to navigate life with him on the sidelines, trying to stay quiet while bursting at the seams with pride.

A celebration to honor Scott's life will be held from 3:00-6:00PM on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at 1052 Flat Creek Road, Gilboa, NY 12076. Scott's family thanks you all for your support during this incredibly difficult time.
