Ruth L. Yung, 92, formerly of Middleburgh, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2025 at  A.O. Fox Hospital in Oneonta.

Ruth was born on August 16, 1932 in Sidney, NY to Martha M. (Burrows) and Frederick I. Odell and graduated Stamford Central School.  Ruth worked as a License Practical Nurse in pediatrics and senior care for many years and had most recently lived in Heritage at The Plains in Oneonta.

Ruth loved gardening and spent most of her time in her flower garden and her home was filled to almost overflowing with scrapbooking supplies and crafts.  She also enjoyed traveling when she was able and always said she was never bored a day in her life. Ruth was a devoted Baptist and member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband: Carl L. Cook and her brother: Arthur "Jake" Odell

Ruth is survived by her children: Robert (Kathleen) Hanford of Sharon Springs, Dorothy (David) Jones of Florida, Richard Hanford of Sprakers, Donald (Debra) Hanford of Texas, Joseph (Missie) Yung of Middleburgh, Stephen (Becky) Yung of Middleburgh and step-son Peter Yung of Middleburgh; sixteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren; her siblings:Ruby Merrill of Sidney Center, Mary Hume of Mt. Vision, Helen Wilson of Oviedo, FL, Elaine Strange of Jacksonville, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation with Ruth's family will be held on Friday, April 4, 2025 from 5:00-7:00PM at Coltrain Funeral Home, 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY 12122.  Private inurnment will be in Keyserkill Cemetery.
