Middleburgh – Robert W. Spiers, 89, of Campbell Hill Road found eternal peace on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at his son's home.

Born on August 4, 1929, Bob graduated school and went on to serve 10 years in the United States Naval reserves from 1947 – 1958.  Bob worked for many years at Mahopac Central School before retiring as their head custodian.

A talented handyman, he was never without repair projects, woodworking or fixing furniture.  He loved vintage Packards from 1929-1931, attending antique car shows and collecting model cars.  Bob's latest passion was delving into genealogy and joining the Connecticut Ancestry Society, Inc.  A focus on staying healthy lead him to the YMCA and weekly outings with the men, who affectionately called themselves the "ROMEOS, Retired Old Men Eating Out."

Bob was also passionate about and held tightly to his faith, attending services at Middleburgh United Methodist Church and most recently Huntersland United Methodist Church, where he lovingly shared Scripture readings each week.

Bob was welcomed into Heaven by many family members, friends and his dear wife, Marion, whom he married in 1955 and died before him in 2017.

Cherishing his gentleness and love are his children: Robert W. (Maris) Spiers, Jr. of Chesapeake Beach, MD., Clare (Charles) Scapellati of Poughkeepsie, Scott (Lori) Spiers, of Middleburgh, Susan (Woody) Caldwell of N.Ft. Myers, FL.; 9 grandchildren,; 7 great-grandchildren and many other extended family members, his church family and friends.

A memorial service in honor of Bob's life will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at the Huntersland United Methodist Church, Huntersland, NY with Pastor Maryellen Moore officiating
