Robert W. Nelson died peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022 in the loving care of his family.  Bob was born 79 years ago on November 28, 1943, in Cobleskill, to Florence (Orsini) and Charles Nelson.

Bob's entire life circled around the things he loved the most.  Trips to the casino were always on his schedule, as were visits to the track in Saratoga every August.  He loved playing a good game of "Pitch," which led to meeting his sweetheart, Jeanette.  Bob's other passion was cutting firewood.  You always knew when he was around, the bed of his red truck was full and his faithful dog was riding shotgun beside him.

Loving him forever are his son: Robert Nelson, Jr. of Mattituck; daughters: Traci Nelson of Fultonham, Kandi Borst of West Fulton; step-children: Gary Bevins, Melissa Gorton, Glenn Salisbury, Stephen Salisbury, Tina Parks, Christina Salisbury, Jeffrey Blythe and Michael Jones; his faithful dog "Lazy;" his longtime companion: Jeanette Jones of Breakabeen; grandchildren: Rudy Allen, Tasha Hillmeyer, Jessica Swift, Melinda Fisher, Adaline Engle, Matthew Engle, Kole Borst, Roscoe Borst, Pauline Nelson, Justine Nelson, Ashley Benson, Jessica Benson, McKenna Jones and many other great-grandchildren;

sister: Addie Nelson; brothers: William "Bill" Nelson, Donald (Nancy) Nelson, Ernest (Larry) Nelson, many other family members and friends.

A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 1:00PM on Sunday, January 8, 2022 at BJ's Pub on Railroad Avenue in Middleburgh.  Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC is honored to be caring for Bob and his family.
