IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Raymond H.
Wittmann
April 6, 1932 – March 5, 2023
Raymond H. Wittmann, of MT Path, found eternal peace on Sunday, March 5, 2023, with his daughter and granddaughter beside him.
Ray was born 90 years ago on April 6, 1932 in New York, NY to Helen (Raymond) and Henry Wittmann. Following High School, Raymond served in the United States Army from 1952, until his Honorable Discharge in 1954. A blind date introduced him and Joan Vollkommer and it's no wonder, with her beautiful smile, laughter, loving and strong spirit, they were married on October 30, 1954 and shared 67 years of love, laughter and memories until Joan predeceased him in 2021.
Ray oversaw the family business, Continental Screw Machine in Deer Park for many years before retiring and moving to the beauty and the slower pace of Middleburgh. His friends and family were never far away though and he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and watching the eagles. He never missed visiting the casinos, playing "Hot Hit," and traveling with friends in the Middleburgh Golden Age Club. His family has also learned that Ray was ready for power outages, keeping things neatly together and monitoring time, finding his incredible collection of flashlights, rubber bands and clocks.
His love will be held forever by his daughter: Patricia Palmieri of Deer Park; his granddaughters: Sherryann Palmieri and Michelle Skidmore; his great-grandchildren: Isabella, Luciana, Ryder, Colton, Brendon and Gianna; his sister-in-law: Mary Ann Vollkommer; and nephews: Robert, Dennis and Michael and their families; many other family members and many friends.
All are invited to a visitation with Ray's family from 1-2:00PM on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY. A graveside committal service will be held at a later date in the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
