IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michelle C.
Echtner
November 9, 1981 – April 16, 2025
There is an emptiness when an incredible soul leaves this world too soon, yet there is incredible joy knowing they have found peace from illness. And how beautiful our lives are to have loved them and be loved by them.
That peace came to Michelle C. Echtner, of Middleburgh, on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loved ones.
Michelle was born 43 years ago in Sayre, PA. on November 9, 1981 to Corrine (Porter) and David Barrett. She attended Middleburgh Central School and graduated with the Class of 1999.
Rarely did she miss a chance to share a kind word, a hug, or an expression of her love when she saw you. Michelle shared her compassion with many families through Visiting Nurses as a home health aide too. That same care and kindness came back to her as she needed through one of the bravest fights with cancer many have seen. Michelle's love and faith never wavered though, amidst the struggle and the pain, only adding to her legacy of determination and strength.
Quiet moments found her crocheting something beautiful to share with family and friends, reading, hunting, and camping. She also enjoyed her many animals, from horses, dogs, and cats to chickens and turkeys. She expressed love to all through her passion to cook up a hearty meal, a delicious dessert, or a beautiful cake for a celebration.
One of Michelle's greatest losses was her grandfather, Carl Porter. They shared a love of the outdoors and family gatherings, and she treasured him for his quick wit and love of family.
Loving Michelle forever are her husband Michael Echtner, who's love story started in High School and led them to be married on August 7, 2004; and her greatest love and sense of pride, her children: Elizabeth and Ransom. Also cherishing Michelle's life and memories are her grandmothers; and her parents: Corrine and David Barrett; her brother: Jesse (Heather) Barrett; her sister: Sondra (Ben) Kiley; her cousins, nephews and nieces, many great friends and her sisters by love: Sarah Beretz Welsh and Joann Lawyer.
At Shelly's request, no formal services will be held, instead please consider a gift of love in her honor to the Marathon for a Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187 or online at www.marathonforabetterlife.org
