Obituary

Louise Langone, age 100, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her three children on December 9, 2022.  Louise was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to Angelina (Lasurdo) Marco Leonetti. She attended a vocational high school and started working in the garment industry before changing careers during WWII. She worked as a switchboard operator at AT&T for many years. Louise married Jerry Langone in 1950 and moved to Richmond Hill in Queens, NY to raise their family. As her children grew, she returned to the working world as the telephone supervisor for Johnson & Higgins, retiring in 1986. At age 97, Louise moved to Middleburgh, NY where she enjoyed sitting on her deck looking at the cliff and watching her garden grow.

Louise was generally found in her kitchen or her sewing room, forever providing meals and baked goods to all who visited. As a talented and gifted seamstress, Louise enjoyed creating beautiful dresses for herself, her girls, and grandchildren. She sewed countless bridal gowns and special occasion dresses for friends and family. She was an active member of her parish and rosary society at Holy Child Jesus and enjoy attending Mass at Our Lady of the Valley.

In preparation for the celebration of her centennial birthday earlier this year, she received over one hundred notes and cards filled with stories, memories, and recollections of the impact her life had on others. These messages unquestionably reflected her warmth, hospitality, and general loving nature. Very few failed to mention her spaghetti and meatball dinners or appreciation for her sewing talents.

She was predeceased by her husband, Jerry Langone, her brother, John Leonetti and sister, Anne Leonetti.  Her greatest love was her family, and she dedicated her life to each and every member. Louise is survived by three devoted children, Theresa Langone Charland (Peter), Angela Langone McGreevy (William) and Paul Langone (Suzanne). She is also survived by seven loving grandchildren, Laura Charland Lang (William), Donna Charland Becker (Nathan), Maria Charland McGrail (Joseph), Annie McGreevy Kelly (Michael), Michael McGreevy, Jerry Langone, and William Langone. Eight great grandchildren added another generation of happiness to her life: Joseph and John Lang, Claire and Eric Becker, Henry and Mary McGrail, Mia and Caleb Kelly.

Louise lived her life by the Golden Rule; Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
