Kathleen F. Fernandez, of Lawton Hollow Road, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 in the loving care of her family.

Kathleen was born 81 years ago on June 12, 1941 in Bridgeport, CT. and graduated from Bassick High School in Bridgeport.

Kathleen moved to Middleburgh in 1985, with her youngest daughter, to the family home on Lawton Hollow Road.  Her husband Julius never knew what animals would greet him when he arrived on weekends.  From horses, chickens, a pig that ate the turkeys, Kathleen loved adopting and caring for farm animals.  She was especially fond of her dogs, rarely without their trusted companionship and love.

She enjoyed traveling and made it twice to Alaska, the second time in celebration of their 50th Wedding Anniversary.  Quiet moments found her reading, knitting and painting beautiful pictures, many of which adorn her home.

Nothing brough Kathleen more happiness though, than sharing her love with her beautiful grandchildren.

Loving Kathleen forever are her husband: Julius Fernandez of Middleburgh, whom she married on April 21, 1960; daughters: Tracy (Richard) Bernard of Middleburgh, Kristine (Edward, Jr.) Jackson of Milford, CT., Jennifer Fernandez (Gene Euler) of Middleburgh; grandchildren: Robert (Keri) Ostrander, Derek (Sydney) Ostrander, Tyler Jackson (Jaqueline Freeman), Erin Jackson (Jesse Rocha), Kelsey Jackson, Alexandra Tsamis, Isabelle Tsamis, Theodore J. Tsamis; great-grandson: Brayden Jackson; brother: Richard (Ginny) Sherwood of Plymouth, CT; many nieces, nephews and friends.  Kathleen was predeceased by her siblings: Maryann Gamble, Diane Markey and John Sherwood.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh. Interment will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery.  All are invited to visit with her family from 6-8PM on Friday, October 21, 2022 at the funeral home.
