Obituary

Kathy Diamond, of Middleburgh, passed away on March 23, 2026, following a short battle with cancer.

Born 80 years ago on February 10, 1946, in New York, she was the daughter of Henrietta Hipful and Leland Lacy Sr. Kathy spent her entire life in Middleburgh, a place she loved deeply and where she became a familiar presence to many.

Kathy was the widow of Douglas Diamond. She will be lovingly remembered for her daily walks around town, where she could often be seen stopping to chat, sharing a smile, or simply enjoying the day. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, including her fondness for scratch-off tickets, which brought her moments of excitement and fun. Kathy’s life was rooted in her community and in the small, meaningful moments that made up her days. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, and her presence will be felt in the streets and places she loved so much.

She is survived by her brothers: Martin (Bernice) Lacy, George (Sherry) Lacy, and Richard (Linda) Lacy; her son: Steve (Julie) Fancher; her brother-in-law: George Beam; her sister-in-law: Terry Lacy; her grandsons, great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her sisters: Alice Beam, Marie “Chickie” Wenzel, and Carol Granbacka; and her brother, Leland Lacy Jr.

A private graveside service will be held at a later time.
