IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Karen A.
Toften
February 10, 1950 – August 23, 2019
Middleburgh – Karen A. Toften, 69, of Posson Hill Road, found eternal peace on Friday, August 23, 2019, wrapped in the warmth of her family and her home.
A beautiful girl, born on February 10, 1950 in Sharon Hill to Dorothy (Caldwell) and Millard Cole, Karen attended Jefferson Central School and went on to greet visitors and become a Senior Tour Guide at the NYS Power Authority Visitor's Center in North Blenheim for many years before retiring.
Of Danish origin, the name Karen is often associated with purity and so fitting for such a beautiful lady who gave so freely of herself, in word, in deeds, in faith and in love. She was a proud member of the Middleburgh VFW Post 2161 Auxiliary, served on the Middleburgh Town Council and was a member of the Bethlehem Community Church in Delmar.
Karen's happiest moments though, were at home, with her family and in her flower gardens. Karen loved, cared for and nurtured each and proudly watched as her family and flowers alike grew in beauty, all while wrapping herself in the peace and assurance of her faith, loving and trusting in her Lord and Savior.
Karen's love and memory will forever be a part of her husband and soulmate of 52 years, George A. Toften, Sr., whom she married in 1968 and her children: George (Denise) Toften, Jr., Stacey (Daniel) Simeon, Carrie (Justin) Reaves, Garrett Toften; her grandchildren: Dylan Toften, Mandi and Cameron Simeon, Emilia and Ella Reaves and Aviana Toften; her siblings: Kenneth Cole, Millard Cole, Kathie McCabe, Robert Cole, Douglas Cole, Michael Cole, Mark Cole, Steven Cole and many nieces, nephews and friends.
In keeping with Karen's wishes, there will be no formal services, but her family thanks you for remembering them in thought and prayer and request honoring her life by sharing the same kindness and love to others, as she would. Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Karen and her family.
Memorial contributions are kindly requested to the Marathon For A Better Life, PO Box 268, Warnerville, NY 12187 in Karen's honor.
