Schenectady – Jeffrey L. Sagendorf, 61, passed away peacefully into eternal life, on Monday, December 25, 2017, at Ellis Hospital, after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

Jeffrey, the son of Merlin and the late Elsie Sagendorf, was born in Cooperstown on July 18, 1956.  He was raised in Schoharie and graduated from Schoharie Central School.  He went on to attend Morrisville College obtaining a degree in Bio Chemistry.

In addition to his mother, Jeffrey was predeceased by his sister: Laraine Dell.

Jeffrey is survived by his father: Merlin Sagendorf; sister: Marlene Douglass; brother: Gregory (Joan) Sagendorf; brother-in-law: Robert Dell;  nieces:  Stacy (Stephen) Brendese and Maria Douglass; nephew: Jason (Erin) Saddlemire;  great- nephew: Nathan Brendese; great- nieces : Caitlin and Addison Saddlemire.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Ellis Hospital Intensive Care Unit for the dedicated and wonderful care given to Jeff and for the support offered to his family during his stay.

At Jeffrey's request, there will be no calling hours and private funeral services will be held at the convenience of his family.

Because of Jeffrey's love for horses, his family is requesting that donations in his memory be made to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092 or Peaceful Acres Animal Shelter, 3740 Rynex Corners Rd, Pattersonville, NY  12137
