Obituary

James M. Stein, of Gorge Road found eternal peace on Thursday, December 29, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Jim was born 74 years ago on August 19, 1948, in Schenectady, to Kay (Smith) and Michael Stein.  He graduated from Middleburgh Central School and was Middleburgh's first Rotary exchange student, in 1967, traveling to Argentina. Jim's life overflowed with great moments from coaching Little League, serving as Troupe 2 Scout Master, being a linesman for MCS and cheering on his favorite football team, the New York Jets.

A communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church, he was a Marriage Encounters Leader and member of the George E. Keefe Council No. 4475 Knights of Columbus.  Jim was also a member of the Cobleskill Lodge #2040 of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and had the honor, at 26, of being the youngest Exalted Ruler in NYS.

Jim worked at Schoharie Valley Laundry in Middleburgh for many years before going to work at the Walmart Distribution Center and then transferring to be an Associate at the Walmart store in Cobleskill.

Fifty-two years of love and memories will hold his wife, Linda (Michelin), whom he married on August 29, 1970 and their children: Robert (Jamie) Stein of Washington State, Lauren (Dan) Guasp of Schoharie, Jaime (Gary) Pickering of Middleburgh; his grandchildren:  Jaydan Guasp, Joshua Guasp and Eric Pickering; his mother: Kay Stein of Middleburgh; his brother: Thomas (Terry) Stein of Latham; many nieces and nephews and his trusted pup companion "Mandy"

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00AM on Friday, January 6, 2023 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Main Street Middleburgh.  Inurnment will take place in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Colonie. All are invited to a visitation with Jim's family from 6:00-8:00PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River St. Middleburgh with Knights of Columbus and Elks services beginning at 7:45PM.
