North Blenheim – Howard B. Porter found eternal peace on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at his home, surrounded by the loving care of his family.
Howard was born in Schenectady on June 9, 1936 to Gertrude (Proper) and Howard Porter. After graduating from High school, Howard served in the United States Marines from 1957 until his Honorable discharge in 1958.
When not in the company of his family or friends, Howard was happiest behind a fishing rod and reel, waiting the perfect catch. He also loved dining out and savoring fresh clams, raw with cocktail sauce.
Howard was predeceased by his former wife and friend: Barbara Porter, his daughter and son: Tina and Timothy, his grandson: Robert Porter, Jr. and great-granddaughter: Tristen Miller and also by his infant brother.
Loving him forever are his daughter: Jennifer Warner of North Blenheim; his sons: Robert (Colleen) Porter of Central Bridge, Howard (Mark George) Porter of Greenville, TX; his grandchildren: Scott (Lisa) Porter, Matthew (Kyra) McKissick, Amber (Jason) Gridley, Michael (Nicole Bolster) McKissick, Amanda (Derrick Bouck) Porter, Nikki Porter, Joshua (Bretta) McKissick, Summer (James) Brown; 16 great-grandchildren, cousin Glen Hallenbeck and family; best friends: Dave Scott, Arthur Terk , Carolyn Brown and Brenda Wallace and her family.
All are invited to a visitation with Howard's family from 10AM-12PM on Friday, September 18, 2020 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Street, Middleburgh, with facial protection and distancing respected by all. A graveside service in Keyserkill Cemetery will be held at 1PM on Friday, following the visitation. A gathering for family and friends will follow at his home in North Blenheim.
Howard's family requests memorials in his honor be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.
