IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Helen T.
Ellicott
December 22, 1942 – March 17, 2023
On Friday, March 17, 2023, Helen Theresa Ellicott of Schoharie passed away peacefully at the age of eighty. She is survived by her husband: John Kenneth Ellicott; her children: Sean (Lisa) Ellicott, Marianne (Andrew) Roberts and Tracy (Michael) Greene; her grandchildren: Heather Singletary, Rose Ellicott, Daniel Baldwin, Mark and Sarah Roberts, Meghan Hale, and Abbie Greene; her great-grandchildren: Lyrik and Harmonie Singletary, Christina and Alexis Ellicott; and her beloved pug Ollie.
Helen was born eighty years ago on December 22, 1942, in Bronx, NY to Anna (Vogel) and Peter LeRuzic. After graduating from Schoharie Central School, she moved to NYC where she met the love her life and husband of sixty years. They were married and returned to Schoharie New York where they raised their family.
For twenty years, she was the co-owner of a local eatery, The Alley Cat Diner, which closed in 2011. She loved to dance, to polka, when possible, take trips to the casino, and share naps with her faithful pug Ollie. An avid traveler, she was a snowbird who spent winters in Florida, in Pinellas Park, where she made many dear friends across the Bingo tables.
Her strength of spirit and love for life live on in the family she leaves behind. The stuff that makes a family is not only flesh and blood – but love and spirit; and in these two aspects, Helen was a powerful and hardworking woman who saw her dreams come true in her own lifetime. For the light and laughter she brought to all who knew her, she will be dearly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12:00pm, at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River St, Middleburgh, NY. A visitation with her family will be from 11:00-12:00, prior to the celebration. Interment will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery.
Donations in her honor, are requested to The Joshua Project, PO Box 413, Middleburgh, NY 12122 or online at https://joshuaschoharie.org
