IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Garrett A.
Toften
November 14, 1980 – February 15, 2023
Garrett A. Toften, of Brooky Hollow Road, Middleburgh, found eternal peace on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.
Born 42 years ago, on November 14, 1980 in Cobleskill, Garrett was the youngest son of Karen (Cole) and George A. Toften, Sr. He graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1999. Continuing his education and earning his Bachelor's degree, Garrett worked through several positions until his most recent as a Systems Analyst, with NYS Office of General Services in Albany.
Garrett's greatest love was being a father to his beautiful daughter, Aviana. They shared countless adventures together while imparting life lessons to her along the way. With his charismatic charm, warm personality, infectious smile and hugs that didn't want to let go, Garrett made friends with everyone he met, through every walk of his life. Being outdoors in nature filled his spirit and recharged his soul as much as pushing his boundaries in the gym, his home away from home as he called it, achieving his goals and a physique he was proud to show off, if you were lucky enough to catch him shirtless or receive one of his signature "selfies." Music also resonated through his life and he was never far away from his guitar, strumming away the cares of life and sharing sweet harmonies with his family and friends. And sharing all of those precious moments with his daughter, his family and his friends was his greatest passion, loving, supporting and encouraging them in every way he could.
Garrett's love will be held forever by his daughter: Aviana Toften; his father: George A. (Melissa) Toften, Sr.; his siblings: George (Denise) Toften, Jr., Stacey (Daniel) Simeon, Carrie (Justin) Reaves; his nieces and nephews: Dylan Toften, Mandi Lawyer, Cameron Simeon, Emilia and Ella Reaves; many aunts, uncles and countless friends. Garrett joins his mom, Karen, who predeceased him in 2019.
A visitation with Garrett's family will be held from 2-4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. A memorial service will follow at 4:00PM. Spring interment will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a trust for Garrett's daughter Aviana Toften to help her with educational expenses and whatever else she may need to help her in all her future endeavors. Carrie Reaves and Stacey Simeon, Garrett's sisters, will be running the trust and donations can be sent via check or Venmo to @Carrie-Reaves
Garrett's family thanks you for all your thoughts and prayers in this difficult time.
