Frank Thomas Morgenweck, of Middleburgh, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 15, 2026 at the age of 94.
Frank was born on October 9, 1931, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to parents Frank and Rozella Morgenweck. In 1938, Frank appeared alongside his sister, Joan, in the movie Toyland Casino after years of dancing lessons. After graduating from Hempstead High School on Long Island, he moved to Brooklyn to work at the Williamsburgh Savings Bank, attending Brooklyn Dodgers' games. He honorably served in the US Army Military Police in Korea from 1952-1954. After the Army, he attended the Colorado School of Trades for Gunsmithing and later learned the art of taxidermy at the world-renowned Jonas Brothers Studio in Mount Vernon, NY. Frank was an extremely skilled taxidermist focusing on large North American and African animals. He would regularly travel upstate for hunting trips with his father, eventually finding his way to Middleburgh, often staying at the Nahrwold Farm, which regularly provided accommodations to hunters. He eventually moved to Middleburgh, met and married Beverly Pierce where they raised two children, Eric and Glen. He transitioned from taxidermy to credit union auditing, first at the New York State Credit Union League and later as a self-employed auditor. He enjoyed tackling all kinds of home projects, traveling across the United States, gardening, and watching wildlife.
Frank is survived by his son: Wayne (Elizabeth) Silverman of Cape Coral, FL; son Glen (Coye) Morgenweck of Fort Worth, TX; daughter-in-law: Barbara Morgenweck of Cody, WY; and grandchildren: Kira (Zach) Morgenweck, Holly (Ron) Cichocki, Greta Morgenweck, Spencer Morgenweck, Natasha Silverman, and Tiffany Silverman; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank and Rozella; his wife: Beverly; his sister: Joan Hakes; his brother-in-law: Leon; his daughter: Mildred Ford; his son: Eric Morgenweck; and his longtime partner: Marilyn Ford.
Visitation with Frank's family will be from 6:00-8:00 PM on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Street, Middleburgh, NY 12122.
A funeral service to honor Franks’s life will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, September 25, 2026, also at Coltrain Funeral Home. Interment, with Military Honors, will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery.
