Richmondville – Frances Cates, 91, passed away on Thursday, May 3, 2018.

She was born on January 30, 1927 in Harpersfield, New York.  Frances was married to the love of her life, Lewis Cates, on Christmas day, 1946, a devoted union of 72 years.  They were parents of three children: Linda, Kenneth and James, raised in the family home located in Beards Hollow and she was grandmother to 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

She loved to travel with her husband and was an avid gardener who planted many native species in the flower beds surrounding her home.

Frances was predeceased by her parents: Frank and Sophronia Campagna of Stamford; sisters: Virginia Briggs and Margaret Sadlowski; brothers: Louis Campagna, Clarence Campagna, Donald Campagna and Eugene Campagna.

While services will be held privately, Frances' family thanks you for remembering them and asks that those wishing to commemorate her life donate to a favorite charity or to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092.
