Fanny "Serafina" Campanella, 99, passed peacefully in her sleep on September 7, 2026, at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs, New York.

Fanny was born to Joseph and Emily Sapuppo on July 28, 1927, in Manhattan and was raised in Brooklyn as the oldest of five children. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Brooklyn, a school that served generations of Brooklyn families through the years of the Great Depression and World War II. Though she grew up during those difficult years, Fanny remembered a childhood filled with joy and happiness. With her three sisters and brother, there was always laughter, singing and, of course, her mother's wonderful Italian cooking.

After graduation, Fanny went to work at a bank, a job she loved. In 1946, she met her future husband, Peter (Joe), on a blind date. Within a year, they were married. After spending their first year of marriage in Brooklyn, Fanny and Joe moved to Middleburgh, New York, where they raised their two children. Fanny stayed home to raise their children during their early years while also caring for her beloved father-in-law, Anthony Campanella.

As her children grew older, Fanny returned to work, first part-time at the Budget Booster and later full-time in human resources at Becker Electronics. After retirement, she and Joe traveled extensively and spent their winters in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where Fanny made many wonderful friends.

Fanny enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, music and dancing with her husband. But her greatest joy was her family. She absolutely adored her four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and took great pride in watching them grow. She showed her love in countless ways, but perhaps most meaningfully through the meals she lovingly prepared and shared with her family, passing down the importance of family, a value that lives on in the three generations that have followed.

Fanny was a truly joyful, caring and optimistic woman who was loved by everyone who knew her. Her smile lit up a room. She was the heart of her family, and she will be deeply missed.

Fanny is survived by her husband of 79 years: Peter "Joe"; her children: Mary Anne (Brian) Doyle of Saratoga Springs, NY, and William (Debbie) Campanella of Wall, NJ; her four grandchildren: Brad Campanella of Wall, NJ, Sean (Katharine) Doyle of Armonk, NY, Lyndsey (Eric) Hansen of Wall, NJ, and Erica (Mike) Guernsey of Westfield, NJ; and her seven great-grandchildren: Addalyn, Capri, Quint, Liam, Eviana, Finn and Everett.

All are invited to attend a memorial service at 12:00PM (Noon) on Saturday, September 26, 2026 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC 134 River Steet, Middleburgh, NY 12122
