Middleburgh – Erika Shaw, 69, of St. Johnsville and formerly of Middleburgh, passed away peacefully on Saturday July 11, 2020 at Albany Medical Center following years of declining health.

Erika was born in Kellinghusen, Germany to Olga (Gerulat) and Gustav Borchert. Erika graduated from Queens Vocational School with a degree in Beauty Culture.  She met and married her husband on November 10, 1973 in Ridgewood, Queens and set about tending to her family and their home.  She loved cooking and lending her time and ability to any in need.  She was a diehard Derek Jeter fan and also a fixture for many years at Mrs. K's Kitchen in Middleburgh, keeping abreast of all the current events around town.

Besides her parents, Erika was predeceased by her husband: John G. Shaw, Sr. on March 9, 2012 and also by her niece: Christine

Holding her love and memory forever are her daughters: Victoria Shaw and Karin (Gordon) Johnson, all of St. Johnsville; son: John G. (Rebecca) Shaw, Jr. of Middleburgh; step-son: Matthew (Judy) Hanes of Spokane, WA; grandchildren: John G. Shaw, III, Lucas Shaw, Jackson Shaw, Callie Shaw, all of Middleburgh, Amanda (Mark) Overturf of California; step-grandson: Steven L. Johnson of St. Johnsville; her siblings: Meta, Hildegard, Helmut; God-mother: Imi (Zeggy) Redmann, God-father: Oswald (Martha) Borchert, all of Canada; former son-in-law: Scott Oeffler; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

All are invited to visit with her family from 5-7PM on Friday, July 17, 2020 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street Middleburgh, with distancing and facial mask protection required and respected by all.  A memorial service will be held privately at the family's convenience.
