David C. Wood, of Keyserkill Road, passed into his Lord's waiting embrace on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at his brother's home, in the loving care of his family.

David was born 77 years ago on August 15, 1947, on the family farm in the Town of Broome, to Elizabeth (Lobdell) and Everett C. Wood.

While David quit school as a teenager, he often remarked that he learned more from his father and working at General Electric than he ever did while in school.  He first worked at American Valve in Athens and also Becker Electronics in East Durham before going to work as a welder at General Electric in Schenectady, eventually becoming a Certified welder there before retiring.

David helped work the farm, loved beef cattle, the outdoors and hunting.  David was also a member of the Flat Creek Baptist Church in Gilboa.

David is survived by his brothers: Jared (Yvonne) Wood and Milton Wood all of Middleburgh; his sister: Beverly Godigkeit of Kentucky; nephews and nieces: Donald E. Wood, Jared Wood, Jr., Michelle Wood, Annette Wood, James Wood, William Wood, Nathan Wood, Melissa Godigkeit, Jennifer Godigkeit, Sarah Godigkeit and James Godigkeit, Jr., Matthew Guyette and Christine Miller; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

All are invited to a funeral service at 11:00AM on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh. Interment will follow in the Old Stone Fort Cemetery, Schoharie.  A visitation with David's family will be from 10:00-11:00AM, prior to the funeral service.
