Cindy Lynn Nelson

Cindy Lynn Nelson, of Middleburgh, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, at Albany Medical Center.

Cindy was born 69 years ago on October 29, 1956, in Schenectady, New York to Jacquelyn and George Liddle.

For many years, Cindy dedicated herself as a waitress at the Main Street Cafe in Schoharie, where she not only served meals but also nourished the spirits of many with her interest in people. She loved to chat, especially during visits to Walmart, where her friendliness touched friends and strangers alike.

Cindy found solace and joy in nature. Flowers, gardening, and caring for birds—particularly hummingbirds—were among her favorite pastimes.

Cindy shared 26 years with her companion, David Federico, who survives her along with her son: Justin Kiel; her daughters: Jolene Mensing and Trisha Hotaling; her granddaughters: Kaylea Widman and Camielah Widman; her grandsons: Cameron Hotaling, Gavin Mensing, and Bryce Mensing; her great-granddaughters: Daisy Widman and soon-to-be-born Aurora-Rae Jane Widman; her sister: Dorothy Jouben, many nieces, nephews and friends.

Two verses from one of her favorite poems express

"I made it home, I am okay

They sent Angels to guide the way."

"I made it home, I am somewhere greater

This is not goodbye, but will see you later."

A celebration of her life will be held at a future time to be announced and her family thanks you for remembering them and her through this time.

Cindy's family requests memorial donations in her honor be sent to the Schoharie Valley Animal Shelter, PO Box 40, Howes Cave, NY 12092
