Carl B. Schanz of High Point Road, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 22, 2022.

Carl was born 94 years ago on August 28, 1927 at home, to Inez (Durfee) and George W. Schanz.  He started at the one-room schoolhouse near the family farm before attending Middleburgh Central School and graduating.

Carl was a Conservation Operations Supervisor with New York State Dept. of Conservation for many years, retiring from Camp Cass in Rensselaerville.  He also dedicated his time to running the family farm on High Point Road.  He was a lifetime member of the Huntersland Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Tri-County Fireman's Association.

Carl's family includes his daughter: Mary Lou (Daniel) Palumbo of Olean; son: Stanley Schanz of Huntersland; grandsons: Adam (Melissa) Schanz, Daniel (Erin) Palumbo, Michael Palumbo, Brian (Elizabeth) Palumbo; great-grandchildren: Sarah Ann Schanz, Brooke Palumbo, Trenton Palumbo, Landon Palumbo and Carter Palumbo.  Carl was predeceased by his wife: Daisy May (Gifford) Schanz.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River Street, Middleburgh.  Interment will follow in Middleburgh Cemetery.  Visitation with Carl's family will be from 10-11:00AM, prior to the funeral.
