Brian J. Higgins, born September 2, 1947 in Teaneck, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2025.
He was the beloved son of Wanda C. (née Ekiert) and Joseph Higgins.
Brian answered the call of duty during one of America's most challenging times, serving with distinction as a paratrooper in the renowned 101st Airborne Division during the Vietnam War.
Known for his marksmanship and unwavering courage under fire, he was honored with the Purple Heart for his sacrifices. His honorable discharge marked the end of a chapter defined by bravery, resilience, and steadfast commitment to his country.
Beyond his military service, Brian was a man of quiet strength and deep character. He found peace and joy in the simple pleasures of life; tending his garden, exploring the outdoors through camping and fishing, and cherishing time with family and friends. For 30 years, he shared a loving partnership with his devoted companion, Gail Romberg, and together they built a life filled with treasured memories alongside her children and grandchildren, all of whom held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by Gail; his brother: Thomas J. (Patricia) Higgins; his nephews: Ryan and Richard; and his niece Kaitlyn.
Brian's legacy will live on through his kindness, generosity, and deep love for his country, remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
Private inurnment, with Military Honors will take place at Saratoga National Cemetery
