Barbara A. Bechtold

Barbara A. Bechtold, of Middleburgh, found eternal peace on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at Kingsway Nursing Home, where she lived the last few years.

Barbara was born in Brooklyn on April 11, 1938 to Genevieve (Bell) and Arthur Baldwin. The bonds of sisterhood form early and are strengthened through life. Barbara held a deep love and admiration for her sister Kathleen that never lessened. In 1969 she moved with her family to Middleburgh, from Port Jefferson and worked for Bush Lumber Company and then the Middleburgh Telephone Company for many years before retiring.

She enjoyed visiting with friends, lunching with her coworkers Barbara Becker and Barbara Hartman, all 3 together, affectionately known as "The Barbs."

She was a faithful member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church and loved every moment she could be with her children and especially her grandchildren.

Loving her forever are her daughter: Gina (Stephen) Crook; her sons: John (Charise) Bechtold, Paul (Maribeth) Bechtold and Mark "Mook" (Deb) Bechtold; her grandchildren: Alyssa (Nykki) Jaques, Stephen (Nandani) Crook, Charles (Sydney) Crook, Benjamin Bechtold, Michael Bechtold, Christopher Bechtold, Kalli Bechtold, Timmy Bechtold, Matthew Bechtold, Ryan (Emily) Bechtold, and Cameron Bechtold; her great-grandchildren: Gus, Thoren and Maya Crook; many nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her sister: Kathleen Sheehan.

A visitation with Barbara's family will be from 10:00-11:00AM on Thursday, April 16, 2026 at Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, 134 River street, Middleburgh, NY 12122. A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, immediately following the visitation. Burial will be in the Middleburgh Cemetery.

Barbara's family requests memorial contributions in her memory be given to the Middleburgh Emergency Volunteer Ambulance Corps, PO Box 817 Middleburgh, NY 12122.
