Alice Shoemaker Hamm, 97, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford.

She was born on March 5, 1925 in Middleburgh to Sarah "Sadie" (Bray) and Perry "Doc" Shoemaker.  Alice graduated from Middleburgh Central School in 1942, alongside her husband Duane Hamm, who predeceased her in 2012.

Alice lived in Middleburgh her entire life until 2016, when she moved to Florida to live with her sons, then returned to Middleburgh in August of this year.  She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic church and a member of the Rosary Society. She owned and operated Alice's Beauty Salon on Railroad Avenue for many years before retiring in the 1990s.

She is survived by her sons: Roger (Trina); Gary (Mary) and their children Eric (Emily and sons Connor, Theo), Tara (Andy and children Owen, Finlay, Sadie) and Dana (Ryan); Ron (Kathy) and his son Cache (Jasmine and children Adelyn, Ronan) and son-in-law Steve Schilde and sons Mark (Mario) and Sam (McKenzie).

Besides her husband Duane, Alice was predeceased by her daughter: Donna Schilde.

There will be a private family burial in Breakabeen Cemetery. Coltrain Funeral Home, LLC, of Middleburgh is honored to be caring for Alice and her family.
